Baby Colombian Rainbow Boa Overview
Our beautiful baby Colombian rainbow boas for sale are from a very trusted breeder who has been in the industry for over thirty years. These amazing and docile small-sized rainbow boa constrictors grow to a very manageable size of three to four feet in length. They are a light brown and tan color in their natural wild morph and are represented here exactly the same.
Colombian rainbow boas are able to feed on a diet of small rodents as newborns and as they mature they can eat larger meals. Adult rainbow boas can be fed a larger rodent diet like medium rats.
They can also be kept in a larger enclosure like a four foot terrarium or a larger custom made tank. Baby Colombian rainbow boas are tame and beautiful with a shiny and iridescent rainbow hue. You may also want to consider our slightly larger Brazilian rainbow boas as pets.
Choosing the right baby boa will help start your relationship on the right foot and ensure you get a healthy pet. Avoid wild-caught animals, as they are often less docile than captive bred snakes and may be sick. When you’re shopping, check to make sure the enclosure is clean and only one snake occupies each cage.
Look for injuries, mites around the eyes or any gunk or buildup in the mouth. Listen for wheezing. These are signs that the snake may be ill. In addition, watch how the snake responds to handling; if it is fearful, visit other breeders.
The Right Enclosure for Baby Colombian Rainbow Boa
Your baby boa will need a well ventilated cage that can prevent him from escaping. Glass aquariums with secure mesh tops, or plastic storage tubs with numerous holes in the top for air, will work. Around 40 square inches is enough for a baby. A young adult over 6 months old may need 2 to 4 square feet of space, while adults need closer to 12 square feet.
You should provide at least as many square feet of cage space as your snake is long. Aspen or newspaper make good substrate for the floor of the cage. Branches for climbing and a dark place to hide will be much appreciated.
Heat Source
Boa constrictors need an outside heat source to maintain body temperature. You can use an under-tank heat panel or a thermostat-controlled heat cable. Place the heat panel or cable on one side of the cage to create a gradient with a basking area that reaches 90 degrees Fahrenheit and an overall ambient temperature of around 78 degrees Fahrenheit. This range will allow your baby snake to regulate his own temperature by moving throughout the cage.
Water and Humidity
Due to their tropical origins, boas need 60 percent to 80 percent humidity to thrive. Keeping a plastic tub of clean water that your boa can climb into and soak in will help him maintain moisture and prevent mites. Small bowls of water will raise the humidity. Consider a timed misting system for hands-off maintenance, or a spray bottle to mist your snake once or twice a day.
Feeding Time
Young captive boas live primarily on fuzzy mice or hopper mice; they need to eat only once every five to seven days. Overfeeding can lead to vomiting and a decrease in overall health. If your snake is reluctant to eat, try feeding at night or offering freshly killed prey rather than frozen. O
nce your snake reaches 3 to 4 feet in length, you can reduce feedings to once every 10 to 14 days. As he grows, you can introduce larger prey like rats, hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs. Rats have the highest nutritional value; guinea pigs have the highest fat content.

So happy with my Ball Python! I ordered my Blue eyed Lucy from them over the weekend and got it at my house right on time and without fuss from FedEx. GREAT! My new buddy Perseus is very handsome. Scales are very nice, no scale rot or anything. There are the odd scales, but nothing a good shed wouldn’t take care of. His eyes look great and are very blue. He does have a light yellow line down his spine, but it is to my understanding that it should fade as he ages. I received him Wed. and offered him a freshly killed pup-rat Friday. Took it like a champ. Handling hasn’t happened too much, but he is very kind. He came with a card sharing what he was being fed and when. In my case he was being fed medium mice; however, like I said I switched him to rats. The only disappointment I had was with Fedex. Perseus was scheduled to arrive at 12, but didn’t. I waited until 2 and called. they said he hasn’t been scanned in and to call them back at 4. I asked them to call me back instead, and received no such call. Around 3:50 I drove 30 minutes to the last location and had them find him. Took them less than 3 minutes, not sure why I didn’t get a call or was told that it might come in the next day! Anyway, he was in the box for 4 hours and 30 mins more than he should have been. Fortunately, he was nicely packed and was unharmed. I will definitely be buying here again for this young mans girlfriend
